This is a simple one, as well as powerful. Say it with me by heart today:
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1Co 13: 13 NIV
G-O-A-T! While we like to name certain people by this title, truth is there’s only ONE greatest of all time and He is NO goat! He is The Good Shepherd Who surrendered His Life for His flock. (Jn 10:11) He is our loving and humble yet powerful Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ our King! And one of the countless things that makes Him so great is that He IS Love. It is not only what He does, but who He is, do we get that? Everything He thinks, says and does is from this place of godly Love. His only motivation is Love. This is why we can place our Faith in Him. This is why we can put all our Hope in Him. This is why we can receive, then begin to return His incredible Love to Him…then give it to others. Jesus IS Love.
Listen again to these amazing attributes: Jesus cannot be impatient. He cannot be cruel. He cannot envy, boast or be proud. He will never dishonor others, never seek His own welfare over ours, never be quick to get angry, and never keep a record of our wrongs. He will never delight in sin, but will only and always rejoice at truth. He always seeks to save the lost, always entrust us with His gifts, always hopes we will repent and be saved, always gives us the benefit of the doubt, never gives up on us and He will never fail. This is our God because He IS Love. (see again 1Co 13:4-8) Who wouldn’t want to have a relationship with a Father like that? With a Savior King like that? With a Teacher and Comforter and Advocate like that? Sadly many have not chosen this because they do not understand Who God is. Church, let’s choose to go out and show them, shall we?
