Pray With Me Week 1

Well, this week we talked about chapter one of this awesome book from Dr Tozer which centers on the amazing Grace of God towards all people. It is this Grace that makes it possible for us to have a life-changing and life-enhancing relationship with God. It is this relationship that makes our lives fulfilling because it opens us up to experiencing more and more of God’s Love. And it is this Love that is the whole point to life. All that, and so much more depth, only in chapter one of Dr Tozer’s book! Obviously, I will not get through much of it, so I do hope you will invest your time into reading and studying this book for yourselves. And it does require studying, because, as I mentioned, Dr Tozer is deep…which is exactly what we all need so we can learn more about God and His amazing Grace!

Each chapter closes with a lovely prayer from this great man of God. Here is the first one:

“O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, ‘Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.’ Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long. In Jesus’ name. Amen.” (p20)

How wonderful and how powerful. Let’s commit to praying this lovely prayer and allowing God to answer it, by His Grace.
