To Be Redeemed

Praise God for His forgiveness and redemption!

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,” Ro 8:1 NIV

Redeem means to 1- “atone or make amends for (error or evil).” Redeem means to 2- “gain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment.” And redeem also means to 3- “do something that compensates for poor past performance or behavior.” So when God called us His Redeemed, He is saying all these and so much more!

1- God has made The Atonement. Jesus paid the required price to make amends for our sinfulness. Because Jesus lived the perfectly obedient life here on earth, He is the only spotless Lamb of God that could be the sacrifice to satisfy God’s Wrath. God was rightly angry at Humanity for being ungrateful, spoiled rotten, selfish children. God gave us everything and we spit in His eye, by thinking we don’t need Him. Because we pushed God away, and chose not to follow His Way, we disobeyed our Creator Father and punishment is the result. Jesus atoned for this rebellion.

2- God has regained possession of our hearts, that is, we belong to Him once again the moment we surrender to Jesus. Now that we have chosen to be with Him, just like He wanted all long, we are New Creations in Christ. And now that we are New, we can live the life we were always meant to live…yet because we are children growing into this New Identity, we are going to get it wrong sometimes. Thus the importance of this last definition of “redeemed”…more tomorrow
