We talked last week about being the disciple of Jesus. How we are to deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him, wherever He leads. Of course, we are never to do this on our own. We are never to think, say or do anything on our own anymore, once we become born again. That’s the whole point. We are a New Creation IN Christ. The Holy Spirit now resides in our own spirit, seeking to transform us into the likeness of Jesus. We cannot live the Abundant Life apart from Him. This is why I said we must WANT to be His disciple, or else nothing will change in our lives.
The pressure of living this New Life is not on our tiny shoulders, just like it wasn’t all up to us alone, when we became saved. God is the one Who moves us to want to be saved, and He will move us to live out this saved life too. Listen to our “verse to remember” for this week, then take a breath of relief! It is from the Book of Philippians chapter 2 verse 13:
“for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Php 2:13 NIV
My Friends, God has got this. Do we trust that?
