Children are far from perfect… but we are perfectly loved by the Father!
“for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Php 2:13 NIV
God works with what He is given. I have been saying this all week and hope you see the truth in this. But here’s another wonderful aspect of this reality: God does not only work with what you and I give Him of ourselves. What do I mean? When someone prays for someone else, we are giving that person to God. So when we pray for others, we are giving God something to work with. For instance, if I pray for Joe, who might or might not be giving himself to God, God still has something to work with because I am giving Joe to God. Get it? Too often we do not think our prayers are doing anything. Perhaps because we don’t see anything different happening, or we don’t see what we wanted to happen happening. But anything we give God to work with are seeds, and this includes our prayers.
Trusting God to grow these seeds, and how and when to grow them, is part of this Faith journey you and I began when we said YES to being God’s child. (Jn 1:12) Not only does God supply the seeds …check out 2Co 9:10… but He desires to help us sow them too. Every time we give God something to work with, we are sowing those seeds for good. Again, whether this means surrendering our own hearts to Him so we will follow His Holy Will, or praying for others and this world, we are sowing seeds that will, eventually, bring a good harvest. That goodness will be sensed here in one way or another, if we are working with God, as He works with what He is given.
