Is It My Desire?

Surrender ourselves to the Holy Spirit and we will be able to enjoy and share this New Life in Christ we already have because of Him. You see, once we make that first humble decision to merely fall into God’s open and waiting arms and become His, now and forevermore, we have the Holy Spirit. Question is: does He have us? If the Holy Spirit has us, then we WILL think things through with Him. If the Holy Spirit has us, then we WILL control our emotions. If the Holy Spirit has us, then we WILL want what He wants for us. If the Holy Spirit has us, then we WILL act like His beloved, holy child. We WILL…did you see that? It WILL be our desire to do all that, and as a result, we will represent Him more accurately to those around us. Continually surrendering ourselves to the Holy Spirit is the only way to live this New Life, the one we so desperately want.

This is a struggle, I get it! I talk about the Abundant Life so much because I crave it so much, certainly not because I live it out perfectly! Every time I choose…freely and willingly choose…to do whatever I feel like doing, without consulting God, or even in rebellion towards my God…life is miserable again. I feel lonely again. I experience depression again. I cannot get along with anyone again. Life just stinks!

Ahhh, but when I come to my senses, when I remember Whose I am, when I humbly reconnect with the Holy Spirit…this New Life, this peace and joy, this unity and contentment returns, flooding my heart and mind, and my life truly becomes abundantly filled with this sense that it’s all gonna be alright. This is called righteousness, and as a gift from God, it makes life, well, abundant!
