I do hope I am making this clear to all of us, including to myself! We need God to BE saved AND we need Him to live this Saved Life. Listen to this powerful verse: “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” (Php 2:13) Can you see how desperate we are for God? He is the one Who gives us the desire to live this Saved Life. And He is the one Who gives us the ability to live this Saved Life too. Truly as Jesus said, apart from Him we can do nothing! (see Jn 15:5) God is more than willing and able to help us. All God requires is our consent and cooperation. Why? Because He will not force us…yet He knows us. He knows what it will take to humble us so we will desire to cooperate. Like the Prodigal, He will let us go, while always working things together for our return. This is the greatest good: to live this life with Him, in Him, through Him.
Romans 8:28 is my go to verse, has been since the days of my Baby Girl’s trials. Yet it is only recently that I am understanding what the “good” in that verse is talking about. Good does not mean me getting everything I want. Good does not mean my life will always be easy, comfortable and pleasurable. Good means I can choose to be content, no matter if I ever have any of those things. Good means I trust God. Good means I am being transformed into His image. Good means I am living this life with Him, in Him, through Him. Good means revealing our Good, Good God to this lost and hurting world. Good means I am becoming more like Jesus. And as I freely and willingly choose to place my Faith in Him and cooperate with what He is doing or allowing, then my life is… I think you know what I am going to say, right? Leave a comment below if you know and I will continue tomorrow…
