Every Day of the Week

Mr Keller tells us that only one application of that oil over the sheep’s head and nose was not enough to last the entire summer when those pesky flies would attack. This is so very true for you and me as well. We cannot become saved and think we have arrived! Salvation is only the beginning of the rest of our lives, here and also then hereafter too. But while we are still in this fallen world, we must continually allow God to anoint us with His Spirit so, together, we can handle whatever comes our way. Yep, it’s my favorite topic: Sanctification. For us to grow, it requires that we spend time with God regularly. We cannot think that we can go to a church service every Sunday then be at peace the rest of the week! Again, we are children who forget…and sadly, many church goers forget what the whole service was about the moment they get into the parking lot! Oh how the enemy enjoys a part-time “Christian”! We make his job so much easier…and so much more deadly. I might be preaching to the choir here, but if no one has ever told you, it is my pleasure to do so: once you become born again, God should be in every part of your life, every moment of your life. Yes, not only Sunday, but Monday through Saturday too! This is why we must grow, because this does not come naturally to us.

Today, I hope that you will join me in a powerful prayer. Let’s honor God this Son’s Day by praying for a deeper anointing in our lives that will overflow into every day of the week. Let’s pray for God to give us a deep desire to know Him, to become like Him and to make Him known to those who may not. Let’s pray that God anoints our head with oil, not only for our benefit, but for the good of everyone around us. We need to show this world and the “lord of the flies,” that we are different and the challenges of life will not cause us to act like we do not have the Giver of Life within. Pray with me, “Lord, please anoint my head with oil so that my cup may overflow to the glory of Your Name. Amen!”
