The Exception

Say it with me by heart, then repeat it to yourself, often:

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” Jn 14:6 NIV

No one can come to the Father on their own, but because of the Love of the Father, the sacrifice of the Son and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we all, every one, has the same opportunity to come. Our surrender to Jesus as Savior and Lord is the only exception to “no one comes to the Father,” do we see this? We do not approach the Father God on our own. We come with Jesus, the Son of God, who already paid for our entry. We GET to go to Heaven because of God…do we understand this? We don’t deserve it…we are rebellious right from birth! We think we know better than God does. We feel like we can create our own reality, instead of sacrificially living according to who He created us to be. We want to make our own choices and do not consult God about any of it. Then we have the nerve to say we are “good enough” to go to Paradise?

Rebellious right from the start…ahhh, but God loves His crazy mixed up creation! What we do, or do not do, is not what will open up the doors of Heaven for us. Only God’s Love can do this…has already done it, if we just believe. But to “believe” means to follow too, because if we say we believe but do not live it, well, do we believe? Please oh please choose to believe this mighty verse…then live by it, and be thankful!
