10-5-20 Lord, Call to Me

Hi Friends,

One of the most reassuring things to all mankind is that God is constantly calling out to us. Listen:

“Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.” 1Thess 5:24 NASB

God calls to us. But this is what we should expect from a loving Father, right? A loving parent is always looking out for their children. A loving parent is constantly drawing their children into a deep relationship by talking to them, providing for them, counseling them and so on and so on. This is what our loving Father does, He calls to us with every event, with every thought and with every heartbeat. God calls to us, but do we hear Him? Do we listen if we hear? Do we respond to the calling? These are our choices, my Friends, and depending on what we choose, the way we experience our lives will show evidence of our choices.

God calls to us and we must choose whether to respond or not. Think of a telephone call with an answering machine. There are three things we can choose to do when the phone rings. 1- We can ignore the call, letting it go to the machine but then quickly delete the message without even listening to it and move on with our lives as if we never got the call in the first place. 2- We can hear the phone ringing, but not want to be disturbed so we allow it to go to the machine. Later we listen to the message but put off doing anything about it till a more convenient time…IF that time ever comes, which more times than not, it never does. We tend to forget we even got the call and that we were supposed to respond and we just move on as if we never got the call and message in the first place. OR 3- We can hear the phone ring, drop everything and pick it up with an enthusiastic, “Yes, hello, I am here. How can I help you?” We choose how we will respond, but whichever one of these three choices we are making, the way we experience our lives will show evidence of our choices.

God calls to us and we must choose whether to respond or not and our lives will display those choices. If we choose to ignore God’s call, we can expect a life that is ultimately unfulfilling, hard and futile. If we choose to listen to His message but then not do anything about it, we can expect a life that is filled with up’s and down’s, extremely challenging and ultimately futile. If we choose to listen to His call and work with Him to obey His instructions, we can expect the Abundant Life. Now hold on here, my Friends! The Abundant Life is NOT a life without up’s and down’s, but when they come we hold on to God and the ride becomes more and more thrilling, instead of frightening, and life becomes so adventurous. It is not a life without extreme challenges, but as we grow we sense more victories than defeats, and life becomes so sweet. It is not a life that doesn’t FEEL futile at times, but as we continue to trust God, we see how He works all things together for our good, and life becomes so fulfilling. The more we choose to listen for God’s call and quickly respond, the more life becomes filled with peace and joy no matter what is going on.

Lord, call to me. Do you believe God calls to you? Do you believe you have the power to choose to respond or not? Do you believe your life will display the choices that you make? Believe. Our journey with God all starts with believing. First we believe the Father  Loves us. Then we believe He sent His one and only begotten Son to save us. Then we believe that the Holy Spirit enters our dead spirits transforming us so we will not perish but have Everlasting Life. John 3:16 is powerful, but only if we hear this call from God and choose to respond…we will talk more about this next week. Won’t you join me?

Until we meet again, keep lifting your eyes to God, He’s closer than you think.

<>< Peace, Diane
