Pray without ceasing. (1Thess 5:17) When I first read this verse, I said to our Father, “Lord, how can I just sit here and pray all day long when I have errands and other things to do?” But that was because I did not understand what prayer was nor did I get all the purposes of prayer. It didn’t take long for God to answer my question though. Later that day, I was doing the laundry and thinking to myself about the rest of my activities for the day, when I felt the Lord speak to my heart. He said, “Child, you know that conversation that is going on in your mind? Why don’t you point it to Me instead of yourself. I’m here anyway. Just speak to Me.”
Another reason God wants us to learn to pray to Him all day long is so we can remain connected to Him. So we can remember we are never alone. That He loves us and wants to be there for whatever we need, whenever we need it.
Purposes of prayer:
1- Communication with our Father
2- Connection to our God
