Get Plugged In

It is good to be surrounded with others, but it is better to be surrounded by our Forever Family. Yesterday we talked about getting involved with others. In addition, we must make sure that those we are involved with are good, godly friends who will lift you up when you start getting down, and who you can lift up when they are getting down. Who we talk to matters. While we should be praying without ceasing, that is, talking to God all day long, one way to stay focused on Him is to get plugged in with others who believe the same way we do. We need godly friends who will root for us, who will keep us from falling into those pity parties we spoke of before, who will love us enough to tell us “NO” when we need to hear it. Real, godly friends are not perfect, because no human is, but they are there for us so that we do not feel like we are going through life alone. They understand our heart and can connect with us in ways non-believers just cannot. (see 1Co 2:14)

So don’t only get involved, but get plugged in. One of the privileges of being a member of God’s Family, is well, being a member of God’s Family. Wherever we go, we can quickly connect with other believers and get a sense that we are home. Get plugged in to a good Bible study, a good Bible-based church. Again I urge us to choose the harder path, to be intentional about reaching out to others when we have any needs, or to see if others have any needs. This is the point to being in God’s Forever Family, to love Him and love others in His Name.
