Last week, I talked about a very important topic and it kind of goes along with what I want to discuss this week. “DO something,” means living an active life. As we return to the Seven Pillars of Physical Health, let’s remember that we had been talking about Nutrition and Hydration, which we can talk about forever, but then I went into mental and emotional health because of all that we are going through these days. Those first two pillars definitely have big impacts on our soulful health, but so does this next pillar that I call Activity.
I call this Activity instead of exercise for two reasons. First, that word “exercise” does not have the best connotation for many people. Perhaps it is just me, but when I think “exercise,” I envision pain and sweat and long hours in a gym…nothing that really appeals to me, so nothing that I will sustain. Remember the best plan is one you will stick with for the long run. But the point is to just move. So secondly, calling this pillar Activity, gives us the freedom to choose HOW we will move. Again, doing something is better than doing nothing, any movement will help us get healthier, and that is the goal.
