So different parts of our bodies will house different types of microbes. I like how this article I read puts it: “Each part of the body is a different type of ecosystem, like a planet with different continents and climates, the inhabitants of which have adapted to the characteristics of each location.” (link below) So again, think of our bodies as planets.
Some inhabitants are suited to live on a dry climate like our skin. Others thrive in a humid place like our armpits or feet. Still others are able to exist in the dark regions of our gut. This Gut Microbiome are so vitally important to, not only our physical but our mental health also. We really must learn to keep them in mind whenever we are suffering from any discomfort or illness.
We are sadly living in a time when “germs” are being decimated, either by the chlorine in our water supplies, all the antibacterial everything we are told will help us, or through endless streams of pretend foods that man is creating, yes things like GMO’s. All of these are changing the environment of our bodies and so affecting the makeup of these microorganisms within. Our health is being challenged by all of these things which is forcing these microbes to either adapt or die…but what are they adapting into? Will this help us be healthier or not? These are the questions that I do not think are being considered…but you and I can educate ourselves, we can pray about what we are doing, and we can lean on God to make better decisions so we can work towards better health.
