The way this world views success and the way God does, couldn’t be more different. The world thinks that when we have all the right stuff and people around us, we must be successful. What’s that sad saying? Those who die with all the toys wins? The truth is those who die with all the toys, still die. And the real question is, do they really sense any success while they are living, or do they continually pursue success and never really grasp it?
No, real success is having a growing experience of the Abundant Life God designed us to have, and desires us to enjoy and share. Real success is being able to still, even after you leave this world, be pointing others to Christ and His Love and Freedom and Eternal Life. Take the amazing St Paul as an example. Thousands of years after he was martyred, his words are still bringing some to Christ, his words are still explaining doctrine to hungry hearts and his words are still helping us grow into the person we were always meant to be, a child of God reflecting His Goodness more and more. Real success is what we experience when we seek, find and live out our vocation. It changes us here and can alter Eternity as well.
