Let’s celebrate the beginning of the Lenten season with this powerful verse:
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1Pe 5:7 NIV
Anxiety sometimes has such an awful stigma added to it. But there is no shame in feeling anxiety, my Friends. I mean Jesus felt anxious in the Garden of Gethsemane, right? The problem comes when we do not recognize that this is part of life. The enemy whispers in our ear, “There must be something wrong with you,” like you are the only person on the face of this planet that has ever sensed the fear of worry. He’s such a lair, let’s stop listening to him. He knows that requirement number 1 is for us to become aware we are experiencing anxiety. If that enemy can keep us feeling guilty about anxiety, denying that we are going through it, then he can keep us from running to God so we can cast those cares on God. We will not be free from those fear, but become consumed by them, which is exactly the enemy’s agenda!
Do not be ashamed about feeling anxious. Help is available in so many forms. First, please seek God as to how to proceed. It is only when we admit it that we can be free from it, because it is only, and always, the Truth that sets us free. If we continue to believe we are not nervous about whatever we are nervous about, we will hold on to those thoughts and emotions that will translate into physical symptoms. There is no disgrace in feeling anxious, and there is no need to stay in that state either. More tomorrow…
