Faith OR Fear

Once again we must deal with the issue of fear, listen:

Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2Chron 20:15b NIV

While I’ve never checked myself, I have heard it said that there are 365 verses about “not fearing” in the Bible, one for every day of the year. This tells us that God takes fear seriously. He knows the power it can have to separate us from Him, and one another, so God wants us to learn to trust Him so deeply that fear will not affect our decisions nor cause any other harm to our lives.

As I said a couple of weeks ago, “do not be afraid” doesn’t mean you and I won’t feel fear, but because of our loving God, we do not need to act upon that fear. We can choose to stop, turn to God in Faith, then receive peace in our heart and a clear mind to make choices based on Faith, not fear. This will increase the power of Faith, which will automatically diminish the pull of fear. Remember how we talked about this with the verse John 3:30? (links below if you forgot or haven’t seen those powerful videos yet) Same thing here: if we increase the influence of Jesus in our lives, then the opposite, like fear, will become less without much effort on our part. Did you get that? With less effort on our part, the ungodly and unhelpful things of this world will not control us. Instead, we will live by Faith.
