Feel free to put in your name instead of “Judah and Jerusalem,” but let’s repeat this beautiful verse by heart today:
“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’” 2Chron 20:17 NIV
The whole reason we can do any of this is because God is with us! With us! Do you believe it? No, I mean really believe it? Because if we do, then this changes everything! No need to act on fear because God, the Omnipotent, All-Powerful God Who created everything that is seen and unseen, is with us. No need to lose courage because the Omniscient, All-Knowing God Who knows the end before the beginning even starts, is with us. No need to shy away from facing any battles because the Omnipresent, All-Boundless God Who has gone before us and stays behind us, is also with us…in the midst of whatever it is that is going on. Do you see how if we really believe God is Who He says He is, it changes everything?
Our problem is that we want to believe, but do we? So silly that we believe God for Eternity but we cannot trust Him for these temporary earthly things? I mean we confess that by His Grace we will be in Heaven when our time here is done, but God cannot possibly help me pay my bills, get my children to walk he straight and narrow path, defeat this addiction that has plagued us for years…fill in the blank! If God has done the greatest thing by taking away our sin so we can be in Paradise forever, why can’t He do these much lesser things? Could it be we struggle with our Faith and fall from our position? Could it be instead of standing firm, we collapse to the ground and lose our Hope? Could it be because we refuse to face our problems and trust God to display His Love by delivering us? Church, I am talking to you here…those who claim to believe and follow Christ…if there was ever a Time to follow this amazing verse, then it is now. Choose to believe…again, it is our choice.
