Guilt Is Not the Problem

When Jesus Comes into His Kingdom. Such a simple way to say that Jesus is our King of kings.

“Then he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’” Lk 23:42 NIV

The Holy Spirit convicts our hearts and then we either react or turn to God and are able to respond. Here’s another lesson we can review here: the difference between conviction and condemnation. Both involve guilt, but one draws us towards God and the other even farther away. Condemnation is when we do something wrong, but the enemy convinces us that we, ourselves, are wrong. This makes us stay in a state of shame and the last thing we want is to go to the Holy God in this horrific state. But that is the only state we have, until we become saved, that is…so you see how crafty the enemy is!

Conviction on the other hand, reminds us of the wrong thing we did, but only points to the action not who we are. So after we are saved, we are given the gift of righteousness, even though our behavior may still be wrong. This should cause us to be grateful to our forgiving God, and draw us to His side for Him to forgive and correct us. No more guilt, that turns to shame, that keeps us away from God. But only the Truth that sets us free. See? So guilt is not the problem, it is what we believe about our guilt that is. We will wrap it up tomorrow.
