As the Omniscient God, before we even breathed our first breath, God already knew all our actions…and He made sure good deeds were a part of each of our lives too.
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Ps 139:16 NIV
So God knew everything we would think, say and do, before we even lived a day outside of our mother’s womb. Ephesians 2:10 says “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (my emphasis) You see, God made sure every human would do some good. Problem is, if our focus is in the wrong place, on the wrong person or for the wrong reasons, then you and I will not sense, nor reap from those good things.
Example: there was a time when I did a good deed, but I was so self-absorbed at that moment that I did not even notice that I did it. It was not until some time afterwards that God pointed out what I had done. I shared this example before and you can get the whole story here (link below), but my point is I did not enjoy the good work. I did not get that sense of fulfillment that we experience when we recognize that we willingly and purposely did the right thing. It is only by God’s Grace, that I did reap something good; I learned the lesson that, even when my heart is not in the good deed, God will use me for good anyway. But of course, God desires for us to participate in all these “…good works He has prepared in advance for us to do.” And one way we can do this is by…well, we will wrap it up tomorrow…
