So here’s the honest truth: no one is perfect…and that includes you and me, of course. This should be another reason why we simply continue to love on others, the best we can with the help and Grace of God, even when nothing seems to be changing. We don’t know exactly what God is doing in us, much less in the hearts of others! Praise God though that the point is NOT for us to act perfectly. The point is for us to live in communion with the Perfect One. Glory by glory, the Bible says, God will transform the believer, each of us, so that we may reflect His Love, more and more.
I know I have said this before but it merits repeating: we are CHILDREN of God. Children do not get everything right, all the time. We grow. We mature. We learn from our mistakes. And hopefully, as we are learning, we become more and more merciful with others and with ourselves. The words, “I’m sorry,” backed up by real effort out of a true desire to be better than we were, should speak volumes to those we claim to love. They are humbling and powerful words and should be communicated in every relationships simply because, no one is perfect!
No one is perfect, except our Jesus, of course. And the closer we get to loving the way He does, the more we will seek to speak the love languages of those we are wanting to love. As we do this, others should sense their love tanks being filled, and hopefully, they will do the same for us in return. This is the plan, yet just like God, it is the one who is more mature that must make the first move.
