In a world that is constantly changing, we need a stable and strong anchor to keep us from floating away. We need Someone who we can always count on because He never changes. We need God. Mr Lucado reminds us that God is “the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Heb 13:8) Why can we have the peace of God that surpasses understanding? (Php 4:7) Because the Prince of Peace is always on the Throne and just a heartbeat away. He will never leave us nor forsake us. We can turn to Him at any moment and receive His peace, as we let go of our troubles. We never have to wonder where God is or if He desires to help us, nor if He can help us. God is God. And I have shared this many times but here it is again: God never changes because He is Perfect. We can count on His Truth always being true. We can count on His Love always being overflowing. We can count on His Grace always being available. Do we understand this? We cannot change God’s Truth nor exhaust God’s Love and Grace. This is who He is, so this is what we can count on receiving from Him. Who can’t use a bit of that stability in our lives?!
God’s Plan also never changes. Take to heart Mr Lucado’s words: “The cross will not lose its power. The blood of Christ will not fade in strength. Heaven will never announce the collapse of the bridge. God will never return to the drawing board.” Then he quotes JI Packer: “What He does in time He planned from eternity. And all that He planned in eternity He carries out in time.” (p65) Change is a good part of this life because it leads to growth, where can learn to appreciate God and this life He has given us, more and more. And knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that God never changes, helps us enjoy every step of this journey.
