New Outlook

It takes a whole lot of Faith to leave behind who we used to be apart from Christ and begin to live out this Abundant Life. Many times it comes down to praying for God to change our attitudes about what this life is all about. In a prayer Mr Banks calls “Better Attitude,” he talks about how, when we begin to live this life of Faith, we can bloom into the person we were created to be. Listen in on the heart of a prodigal’s parent as he teaches us to pray: “I pray You will help her to ‘put off’ her old self, ‘which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires,’ and bloom into the person You long for her to be. Give her a ‘makeover’ on the inside, Lord! Let her be ‘made new in the attitude’ of her mind, so that she looks forward to life in a way that she never has before.” (p68) Faith grants us a whole new outlook on life, or it should.

Sadly, I encounter too many people who claim to be Christians who habitually see their lives still through those old, dirty, sinful glasses. And their lives are still negative. How can our youth be serious about their own Faith when this is what they are seeing from “the Church”? While we all go through our winters in life where things seem dark, cold and dead all around us, if this is the only season a believer displays, is it any wonder every generation moves further and further away from God instead of being drawn to Him?  We cannot allow the hard challenges of life to control our actions. Only Faith should. We must focus on God who will give us a better perspective about this life, as we await the Everlasting Life. Today is the day, my Friends. Pray for your child, and for you, to have a whole new outlook on life. Then see how the Son, S-O-N, starts shining in your lives!
