Today’s lesson: defining death
What is death? God was not only talking about a physical death when He warned Adam and Eve to not eat from that Second Tree. We know this because of two things: 1- what happened immediately after they disobeyed, shame and guilt came into their hearts, AND 2- the fact that they lived for centuries after the Downfall. True death is a disconnection from the Giver of Life. Sadly, this disconnect brings with it all the negative, destructive, deadly heart attitudes with it, especially Pride.
If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, then you remain in your sins, that is your identity is a sinner, and you are like a dead man walking. You may be animated but there is no everlasting life within you. Repent and humbly go through the “A, B, C and D” of God’s simple plan. Start seeing the videos about that here: https://spreadthenewsministries.com/gods-plan-is-simple/
If you have sincerely received Christ as Lord and Savior, but still experience all those negative things that death brought into this world and our lives…then you also need to repent and humbly begin to allow God to Sanctify you, that is to transform you, more and more, into His image so that those negative realities like anxiety, depression, anger, worry, fill in the blank, will no longer control you. This is the Freedom Jesus died to give us. This is the Abundant Life God desires to grant us.
Pride is deadly whether we are born again or not…but God is both All Knowing and All Loving, so He knew this would happen and can grant us another heart attitude that would be Pride’s cure. We will talk about that tomorrow.
