A Plan That Teaches Freedom

As I mentioned yesterday, as long as the expense fits within your monthly working budget for that month, then you can feel free to use those funds for that expense. We always make sure we have enough funds in our plan so that my husband and I can have what I call some “mad money.” This is a certain amount that we can choose to use whatever way we choose to use that month. Whether it is going out to lunch with some of my Sisters, or buying those shoes I keep talking about, or even using some of it to help with any groceries we need, whatever each of us choose to do with our mad money, we have the freedom to do so.

Again, I want us all to understand that these monthly working budgets do not stop us from enjoying life. Quite the contrary, they add to the enjoyment of our lives because they give us control and peace and freedom to use our income responsibly, so we avoid the stress of debt and other problems that can happen. It increases our gratitude towards God Who makes it possible for us to even have an income. (see Dt 8:18) And a monthly financial plan that is written and approved by both spouses can literally change your marriage for the better…more on that tomorrow.
