While God always loves us, He knows there is a way that will give us a more fulfilling life, and so He trains us up. Listen:
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Pr 22:6 ESV
The way he should go. And what way is that? God’s Way which does NOT come naturally to our broken, old Self. Thus Sanctification, being transformed into the image of Jesus. The more we allow God to mature us, the more we will choose to submit, be able to resist and act according to His righteousness instead of our old, MMI Person. That’s what we talked about last week, but I want to emphasize it here again because this is the way we can win more and more battles. The battle belongs to God, so when we learn to fight it the way He would, by submitting to Him and acting like Him, the more abundant our life gets. And of course it doesn’t stop there! Others will see it and want the goodness we have too. This opens doors to bring others into God’s Kingdom so they too can be trained up and victorious. This is the plan anyway…but if I don’t allow God to change me, then this lovely plan stops with me. And it is the same with you, so we must be trained up. That is, we must choose to work with God to allow Him to train us, so that submission will become second nature to us.
