I love how Mr Ramsey never sugar coats anything. And that’s great because, we need to know the truth, since it is only knowing the truth that will set us free. (see Jn 8:32) Really listen to his words: “You see, building wealth isn’t really a mystery. We said it was hard, but that doesn’t mean it is hard to understand. The stuff I teach is actually pretty simple intellectually; it’s just hard to do. That’s because it’s easier to drift through life without a plan, wandering from one thing to another. To really build wealth, though, you’ve got to know where you’re going and have the discipline to do the things it takes to get there.” (p20) Our reality is that we have an enemy that wants nothing more than for all humans, most especially those who call ourselves Christians, to float around life, never really getting anything done for the Kingdom of God, and only wasting all our precious resources, like time and money.
Steal, kill and destroy. (see Jn 10:10) That is his main focus, and sadly, he has more victory than we might like to admit. But here’s the Good News: we are not the same person we used to be, because of the Love of the Father, the Sacrifice of the Son and the indwelling, constant Presence of the Holy Spirit. Head knowledge is only 20% of the issue, Mr Ramsey has said. The rest is you and me deciding, firmly committing, to living life God’s Way. Just a warning here from Mr Ramsey, “If you really dig in and do this stuff, you’re going to be totally weird because you’ll be going against the cultural current.” (p22) But that should be the very definition of the Christian life, shouldn’t it?
As you know, or maybe you don’t know, so let me tell you, as per my usual, yes, I am bringing my own experiences and insight into these books, and perhaps pointing our hearts to our great God a bit more than Mr Ramsey does. But again the reason why I trust, and use his program in my life, is because it is Biblically grounded and he is not ashamed to talk about God, the Bible or his Faith, as he teaches everyone, and anyone, these fruitful lessons. Again as Christians, we must bring God into the center of everything, because He IS the center of everything. This includes what we do with the finances He has empowered us to earn.
