Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us, and lead us not into temptation…this phrase is here to remind us of our weaknesses. Apart from God’s Wisdom and Strength, we will continue to get ourselves into situations that will tempt us to fall back into that old, sinner nature. Only in Christ, can we have the insight of how to avoid the paths that will cause us to sin.
It is a good thing to remember that we are one decision away from behaving the way we used to, but as we sincerely pray this beautiful prayer to God, we can have confidence that He will lead us on paths of righteousness instead. Then we can continue to grow into His likeness as we display His life-changing power within us by not falling for the temptations that used to ensnare us.
