Another example of success that many might not see is my Baby Girl. She was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of five. She suffered what I call one horrendous miracle after the other for 7 and 1/2 years. “Horrendous” because each episode was horrible, yet “miracle” because she should not have lived through one, much less the dozens of crisis she endured. Then, 14 years ago this month, she passed from this world and went Home to be with our Jesus. Some would not look at her life as a success, yet her story is still moving hearts to surrender to, and grow in, Christ. His Love is being spread still, even though it has been such a long time since I was able to look into her beautiful, big brown eyes, kiss her sweet little cheeks or hold her in my arms. Yet she used her gifts and is still calling many to Christ.
What were her gifts, you might ask? After all, she was sick throughout her journey in Christ, but as I said before, everyone is granted at least one gift when they become born again, and Beckie is no exception. My Baby Girl was given the gift of Faith. This type of gift is not your ordinary, “I believe in Jesus” Faith. It is described this way in the Spiritual Gifts List from LifeWay Christian Resources, (link below) “Faith trusts God to work beyond the human capabilities of the people. Believers with this gift encourage others to trust in God in the face of apparently insurmountable odds.” You see the reason my daughter was able to survive the unsurvivable was because she trusted God to do the undoable. Time and time again, to my great relief and the doctor’s complete confusion, Beckie lived through impossible situations. It takes the gift of Faith to endure what she did and to live through the things she went through. And because she lived in her gifts, her life is still an awesome display of God’s Grace and Power. That, my Friends, is real success!
