Consequences

Even the verse is comforting:

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Mt 5:4 NIV

We mourn because we live in a world where death has become part of God’s Redemption Plan. And why is death part of this plan now? Because humans chose to go their own way. When Adam and Eve chose to disobey God’s one command…one command…they brought sin and its consequence along with it. Listen to this simple verse from Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Every decision we make comes with a consequence, good or bad. If we choose to obey God’s Way, we get good results. If we choose to disobey, we get bad results. It’s not complicated, is it? And why do we have to follow God’s way? Because He is the one who created everything that is seen and unseen. When you create your own world from nothing but your voice, then you get to say how it all works…until then, this is God’s Life and only He gets to call the shots.

When our forefathers chose to disobey God, something deep in their hearts went cold. Disconnected from the Giver of Life, their spirit died to wanting God’s Will over their own…and this has been the sad condition of every human heart since then. Death, a separation from God Who is Life, entered this world, but that is NOT the end of this great verse, is it?
