Only God can give us what we truly want…and all we have to do is receive it.
“Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1Jn 5:12 NIV
As I said yesterday, sin comes with a price. When we sin, and every human sins right from birth because we are born bent away from God and His selfless Love, when we sin we become disconnected from God Who is Holy. Think light and dark here. If I go into a room that has its lights on, but shut them off, darkness is all that is left. When Adam and Eve first disobeyed God’s one command, the lights went out in their spirit, sort of speak. There is no darkness worse than death, and this death became the internal condition of the human heart. Everyone who has been born since then were born with this death within. But here’s the Good News: if I go into a dark room and turn the lights on, the darkness disappears too, right? This is what Jesus did for us. He is the Light that entered into our dark room and changed everything. Because He paid for our penalty of sin, He now can get rid of the darkness in us by being our Light.
First Jesus shines in our hearts, and our spirit goes from death to Eternal Life. Then He continues to shine in our soul, changing us from darkness to becoming more and more like Himself, light. Then He helps us display this light within by empowering us to be a blessing to those around us. It is a process, but if you don’t have the Son…well, let’s continue tomorrow…
