Dead or Alive

As I mentioned yesterday, the inward change God has already given us is displayed by our outward deeds. While we are only saved by Grace through Faith, if we are saved, it should show in our lives. Here’s this week’s verse from James 2:26:

For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.” Jas 2:26 ESV

The example I always like to give when talking about this topic is simply the object lesson of being pregnant. If I told you I was having baby, but 4, 5, maybe 6 months pass by and you don’t see a pop in my belly, you should start to wonder if I am pregnant at all, right? Same idea here. If I claim to be a Christian, but I am acting like my old self, I have to wonder if there has been any change in me at all. We need to take inventory of our thoughts, words and deeds to see who they are reflecting, that old sinful, Jezebel of the past, or this New Creation Life we now have in Christ.

My point is, if we are New Creations in Christ because God so loved the world, then where’s the evidence? This week, let’s explore how we cannot be Christians just by saying we are, but we must begin to live out this wonderful change within, through what we think, say and do. Good deeds show we are no longer dead, but alive!
