Say it by heart with me today, my Friends:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Mt 5:3 NIV
When we admit we are poor in spirit, we have the Kingdom of Heaven and are blessed to be a blessing. This is the fulfilling life we were created for. Any time you might be tempted to think you can live on your own, that you are “good enough,” that you have any resources of your own, please remember this powerful little verse. The truth is “good people” do not go to Heaven. Only holy people do. And there is only ONE WAY to be holy, we will talk about that great verse next week, but for today, understand that holy does not mean “perfect.” It means being set apart from this corrupt world. It means being different than you used to be. It means living your life, more and more, for the glory of God rather than for yourself. Living to point to His Kingdom of Heaven, rather than your our temporary, false kingdom.
Only this type of life will grant us true satisfaction. Only this type of life will help us love God with all we’ve got and love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Only this type of life will last forevermore…the rest will pass away, and it will pass away forevermore. If you never have, won’t you choose to surrender to Jesus as your Lord and Savior today. Admit you are poor in spirit…it’s ok, because God has already paid all your debt, now and forevermore. So just confess it, surrender to God and start living your New Life.
