I do not normally recommend this when encouraging others to memorize Bible verses, but sometimes we need to get the message of the verse, instead of getting caught up in memorizing the whole thing. This week is an example of this. If you are up to it, then by all means learn the whole thing by heart. If not then just grasp the part of this next powerful “verse to memorize” that I want us to focus on. We are still in 2Chronicles 20, this is verse 15. Here is the whole verse first, then I will highlight the part we must memorize, and more importantly, live by. Recall that, in the midst of their fear and utter confusion, the king and the people of Judah turn to God for help, and now, a prophet is given a message from God to them and…
“He said: ‘Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.”’” 2Chron 20:15 NIV
So what should we focus on from this? You got it! God’s message to His people:
“Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2Chron 20:15b
Let’s call this 2Chronicles 20:15b and let’s talk about it this week…because it makes such a HUGE difference in the quality of our lives here, how we deal with the many situations we encounter, and how we interact with others.
