Because God so loved the world and we believe, we are New Creations in Christ and can do good works to display our Salvation, this New Life in us, in real ways. And this is what we were created for, to reflect God’s Nature as we do these good works. Here’s our next verse:
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Eph 2:10 NIV
How lovely is it to be called God’s handiwork? We are each like a priceless painted masterpiece that God, Himself, is creating right before our very eyes. He has begun, and will finish this work of art in us, but one of the things we must understand is that God is not done with us yet. We are still becoming who we will always be. I love how He once told me, “Child, I did not create you, I AM creating you.” You see, God did not bring us into existence, then move on. He did not say, “Ok now that I made you, you’re on your own.” No, this very attentive and active Father is intimately involved in every part of our lives, and constantly seeking ways to help us be the most mature and loving humans we can be. God wants us to be children who live a deeply satisfying life here. This includes continuing to develop us, so we will automatically do good works.
