This is really a good one to memorize, especially when we are feeling the burdens of life, so say it with me by heart today:
“for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Php 2:13 NIV
Grateful obedience. When we obey, it pleases God. Why? Because we are displaying that we trust Him as we follow His Holy Will. By Grace through Faith, this is the way to live this New Life. (Eph 2:8) It is only by God’s Grace that we have come into His Forever Family. It is only by God’s Grace that we will want to follow Jesus. It is only by God’s Grace that we have the ability to follow Jesus. Our part? Trust Him.
Work with God because He works with us. Every time we work with God, doing what we know we should do, then trusting Him with the results, we are deepening our Faith and strengthening our relationship with our Heavenly Father. We never hear what happens to that Prodigal Son after he is reunited with his Dad, but I would venture a guess that, if the story continued, he would be so very grateful that he would try, as best as he could, to seek and follow whatever his forgiving and generous father told him. Will we choose to do the same?
