Great Reminder

Sometimes when we have prayed the same prayer over and over again, for years, we can get a bit impatient. Yet God knows our hearts and how we are not complaining, but just longing for the day when He answers our heart’s cry. Today’s prayer from Day 66 is titled, “How Long, O Lord?” and it may be one we desperately need when we get weary of the fight for our prodigal. The enemy wants nothing more than for us to get discouraged and give up praying. But we cannot do this, my Friends. When we feel like throwing in the towel in despair, this prayer is exactly what we need. Anyone can pray for something for a little while, but to keep on asking, seeking and knocking? (Mt 7:7) This takes a deep Faith…and that is one of the things God is hoping to grow in our hearts as we refuse to give up on Him.

Here is a select example of the strong prayer Mr Banks encourages us to lift towards God:

“I know that You were faithful and that You answer prayer. But right now I’d like to ask You (just like David did), ‘How Long, O Lord?’ [Psalm 6:3]… You know my heart completely as I come to You in prayer (2Chronicles 6:30). You know that what I am doing is longing. I long to see him ‘turn from evil and do good’ (Psalm 34:14). Like the father who saw his prodigal coming home ‘while he was still a long way off’ (Luke 15:20), I’m watching and waiting…. I’m placing all of my hope in You and asking for the patience to keep hoping, keep watching, keep calling… no matter how long it takes. I praise You in advance for the day Your purpose will be fulfilled in my son’s life.” (pp130-131)

Never give up on God, because He never gives up on us!
