The next amazing attribute of God that Mr Lucado discusses might be the most difficult one for us humans to wrap our minds around. It is the fact that God does not have a beginning, and will never have an end. God is Eternal. God is not only beyond Time, He is the Creator of Time. To Him, there is no past or future. There is only the present. Again, this should leave as a bit stunned because we humans are so very dependent on Time. Not only in our day to day lives, for instance, we must be at work by 9am or meet a friend for lunch at 1pm or maybe even get to bed by midnight. We use Time for everything all day long. I cannot even tell you how often I check my phone for the time throughout my day, to make sure I am getting whatever it is I need to get done, done! But in addition to our daily routines, we human’s are limited in the Time we will spend on this earth. Time to us can become a source of stress. Whether we are fighting a deadline or if we receive a poor diagnosis, Time can often cause us to feel out of control, because which one of us can stop that clock? But God? He is above all this. For Him, no Time exists to restrict Him. No Time can limit His power. No Time is able to stop God from bringing about His Will. I warned you this would be a tough one for us mere humans to understand!
Even if we cannot conceive of this beautiful reality about our Creator, it should bring us relief. The things we think are taking way too long, God knows are happening at exactly the right pace. Many years ago, when I was lamenting about how something I desired seemed so slow in coming, I felt the Lord whisper in my heart, “Child, I have no calendar in Heaven.” Because God is not confined by the calendar, or Time itself, we can take a breath and hold on to His peace. This is yet another reason we can trust God, He sees life in ways we cannot even imagine. So let’s make sure to take some Time today to praise Him!
