The more I freely and willingly choose to place my Faith in God and cooperate with what He is doing or allowing, then the more abundant my life gets. This is the Christian Life: by Grace through Faith. And even this Faith is a gift from God! Just like we are born with muscles, God has instilled faith into our hearts, but what we choose to DO with that faith is the key. We have muscles but if we do not work them, they whither and become small and useless. Same with our Faith. The more we choose to place this Faith in God, the stronger it gets and the more abundant our lives will become. This is God’s Will for us, to act more and more like Himself, and the only way we can fulfill this mighty mission is to abide in and follow the Holy Spirit.
Pages 73-74 on this powerful book is so humbling and inspiring! Here’s a small portion of what Dr Stanley shares: “By putting our sin on Christ and placing Christ’s righteous standing on us, God allowed us entry into His family, a family where only the righteous are allowed….Simply letting us into His family did nothing to reverse our inability to produce righteousness. Unfortunately, most of us expend a great deal of energy acting as if it had. What results is the frustration of knowing we have adopted a standard for our lives that we cannot maintain…When we take on the responsibility of producing the fruit of the Spirit ourselves, we are attempting to improve our flesh.” (pp 73-74) Did you see our problem there?
