Intensions Bless No One

Let’s continue in the Book of James chapter 1 verse 22: “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” Sometimes we think that we are being good Christians because we attend church or listen to a devotional now and again, but my Friends, if you are not putting what you hear into practice, you are missing the greatest part of being a Christian!

We fool ourselves into thinking we are good because we have every intention of following Jesus and serving Him by loving on others, but we never actually DO anything we intended to do. For instance, someone asks us to pray for them and we have every intension to do so, but we forget or get distracted and never actually pray. How does that help them?! As the Word says, we must become DOERS of the Word or what good are we doing?

The truth is “intensions” don’t bless anyone! It is only actions that bless. Next time you sense the Holy Spirit prompting you to DO something, stop and do it…this is the way we follow Jesus. We become obedient to God’s Word when we put it into practice. This glorifies God, blesses others and leaves us feeling fulfilled and content with life. That’s the Abundant Life!
