We need the Sword of God’s Word to cut away the lies we have believed about ourselves, so that we can fight the enemy and move closer towards the victory our Savior has already won for us.
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Heb 4:12 NIV
As I said yesterday, we believe so many lies about ourselves, and shove those lies deep down into our spirit so much that they become part of the way we identify ourselves. “You are not good enough,” continues to be probably the #1 lie the devil pushes on each of us. And the truth is, apart from God’s Love, he’s right. Ahhh but the Word of God tells us that He so loved the world that He sent His one and only Begotten Son to save us from all that unworthiness.
It is only because God loves us that we have any worth at all. And since the Father does love us, since Jesus has already sacrificed Himself to pay for our sinful nature, since the Holy Spirit longs to join together with our childish spirit and live within us forevermore, we are good enough. Can we believe this? Because this is what God’s Word is crying out to each one of us…if we choose to believe His Word. This requires an act of Faith, my Friends. You see, Faith in God is not based on worldly circumstances. Faith in God is founded on His never-changing, Immaculate Character. And this amazing Character is what God’s Word reveals to us.
If we do choose to take God at His Word, then we must continue to make Scripture the center of our lives. It must go deep within us so that the Truth can divide, or separate, what is from our old soul and what is from our new growing spirit. Too often what we think, feel and will (our soul) is based on this world and the events we have experienced; things outside of us. The spirit, however, where we are connected to God through the Holy Spirit, is based on what is inside of us. As we allow God’s Word to separate truth from lies, the Holy Spirit begins to show us WHO God says we are, in the light of Who He is, and we begin to grow in Christ. (Jn 16:13) As we mature, the spirit teaches the soul, which directs the body, and we begin to act according to God’s Word.
