As I said the other day, God’s Plan for the Redemption of Humanity is so simple, that way too many people miss it…and I was certainly one of them. It was not until my Baby Girl was diagnosed with brain cancer that I finally began to seek this God I had heard of my whole life. I began to hunger and thirst for anything about God. Then after having read the Gospel of John, and praying desperately for my precious child, Beckie fell into what was her first comatose state. The doctors gave me no hope and had no answers. There in that PICU room, with just a tiny bit of understanding about how Jesus died to take away the sin of the world, I surrendered my whole life to God. I cannot explain exactly what happened but, by God’s Grace, I knew that I knew I was not the same person I was just a moment before. It was like I had a light switch deep inside of me that had been turned “off” my entire life, but I did not even know it. At that moment though, it was permanently lifted to the “on” position. I was born again and belonged to God forevermore. And what did I really do? Nothing but admit to God that I was a sinner in desperate need of a Savior. I simply believed in, and received from God, His free gift of Grace. It was as simple as believing what God has said in the Bible. I know it was a real change because I am not the person I used to be. And by His Grace, God continues to transform me still. And the more I work with Him, the more peace and joy and contentment I experience.
I don’t know your story, yet if you never made this choice, if you never allowed God to stir your Faith, if you never have simply surrendered your life to Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you can do this, at any moment, wherever you happen to be. But if you are already born again, please be assured that Heaven is your only destination after leaving this world. You are His and you will be His for all Eternity. The Holy Spirit has united Himself with your spirit and He will never leave nor forsake you…ever!
I leave you with this important point from Mr Lucado, “I want to be careful here. Truth is, we do not always know if someone has trusted God’s grace. A person may have feigned belief but not meant it. It isn’t ours to know. But we know this: where there is genuine conversion, there is eternal salvation.” (p140) Be assured: once you are His, you are His forever…or as Jesus put it, “It is finished.” (Jn 19:30)
