Lightning Bug VS Lightning

Pride. We think we are so vital to life, yet we are sorely mistaken. Apart from God there would be no life. Mr Lucado says, “You and I may have power. But God is power. We may be a lightning bug, but he is the lightning itself.” (p41) Then he reminds us that God created everything from nothing. “He did not rely on material that was preexistent or coeternal. Prior to creation the universe was not a dark space. The universe did not exist.” (p41) All this should blow our minds, and that is a very good thing indeed. It should humble us. It should cause us to desire to be with Him always as we contemplate His immeasurable wisdom and power. It should change us forevermore. This is the whole point to God’s Glory, to transform our hearts, souls and actions so they come closer to imitating God’s awesome Holiness.

Because God IS Love and God IS Wisdom, we can trust Him. “The veil that block your vision and mine do not block God’s. Unspoken words are as if uttered. Unrevealed thoughts are as if proclaimed. Unoccurred moments are as if they were history. He knows the future, the past, the hidden, and the untold. Nothing is concealed from God. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-present.” (p42) With a God like this, what do we have to fear? In the light of His immensity, what are our worldly problems? As the saying goes, stop telling God how big our problems are and start telling our problems…well, start telling everything and everyone, how big our God is!
