“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2Co 5:17 ESV
Many of you know I call my old person self, Jezebel. It is a good idea to separate your New Creation self from the old sinful person you used to be. Why? So you can remember that the old has passed away. You see, every word in the Bible is so important, as well as intentional. Please notice the verb tense in this Scripture. It says the old HAS passed away. Once you belong to God’s Forever Family, it is already done. You are already a New Creation in Christ. That old person is already dead. Jezebel no longer has any power over me…unless I give it to her because I forget I am a New Creation in Christ!
One of the Christian’s problem is that, like children, we are very forgetful! Sometimes we resurrect the wrong things! We allow those old negative thought patterns to come back to life in our minds and then, we start acting like that old dead person all over again. We begin to feel depressed, angry, worried, confused and so on, all because we forget what this powerful verse is telling us. That is one of the many reasons why this verse is so vital for us to learn by heart. Every time we sense ourselves falling back into that same old ““stinckin’ thinkin,” we can pray out this verse and stop that old Jezebel in her ugly tracks! My Friends, the old has passed away. Let’s choose today to live like this truth IS truth, more and more.
