We have to pay attention to our thoughts, check our emotions and also understand the motivations behind our will. The “why” can change the direction of our actions BEFORE we do something we might regret. For example, we need to ask ourselves, “Why do I feel an urge to eat a whole big bag of potato chips? Could it be that my thoughts have become negative and my emotions downcast? Is it because I have turned away from God and forgotten WHO and Whose I am?” These three parts of our soul- our mind, emotions and will- are meant to keep us in balance. The more we grow spiritually to be more like Jesus, the more our own spirit will serve as a guide to our soul, teaching it to think, feel and desire what God does. Our spirit will help us know if we are aligned with God or “off-line” and have turned away from Him.
We must allow our thoughts, emotions and will to be a compass to bring us back to the One we were always meant to live with in harmony. When we see we are off course, we can lean on our spirit, that is in union with the Holy Spirit, and simply return to Him and the Abundant Life. God loves us sooo very much and the thing He wants more than anything else is to have a personal and intimate relationship with each of us. Let’s use our soul to make this possible…because with God, all things are possible!
