“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Eph 2:10 NIV
In Christ, we were created to do good works. We were created to love and be loved. Remember this is the whole point to Life. To be like God is to love others and to receive their love in return. This leads to such a fulfilling life. And even when we children of God are acting like, well, children, God can still use us for good. But he also wants us to be active participants, acknowledging what He is doing in and through us, or we will miss out on the full blessing. The more this beautiful verse seeps deep down into our hearts, the more we will be seeking those opportunities God grants us, to love and be loved.
And here’s another awesome piece to this puzzle, God has already prepared in advance for us to do these good works. Because God is Omniscient, He knows everything. He fully understands what will happen in the end before the beginning even starts. So before you and I were born, God already planned every detail of our lives, including the good works we would do. King David marvels in the Bible as he says, “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” (Ps 139:16 NLT) God has already prepared in advance for us to do good works, now whether we enjoy them or not, is up to us.
