Today let’s start with what God says: “I’m good enough.” After all, this is why He sent His only Begotten Son to die in my place, so that I could, not only be good enough to commune with Him here, but also so that He could make me holy, so I can be with Him forevermore! With this Truth as my belief, let’s see how this Cascade of Life gives us a different result, the one we truly want: peace in our home.
So like yesterday, let’s say my husband just happens to say something that could have triggered that old lie in me, only this time I know better. I capture my thoughts and bring them to the Holy Spirit, Who reminds me of the truth I stated above, “God’s Love says I am good enough!” which is now my belief about who I am in Christ. Now what my husband said no longer influences my thoughts, instead I will think about him instead of myself, something like, “Wow, he must be having a bad day.” My emotions won’t get all offended, but they will be stirred into compassion for him instead, I will feel, “I hope he is ok.” My will is to choose to look past his words and want to make sure he is ok, so instead of separation, I will focus on reconciliation by telling myself, “I will go to him to see how I can help him.” So my actions will be to go to him and ask, “Hey, Joe, I love you. Is there anything I can do for you?”, instead of fighting back with harsh words. Then the results are a deeper connection and the peace we both crave.
Holding on to what God says about you is powerful! Do you see it? God says “I’m good enough,” so as I grow in Christ, what others say or do will not move or influence me to act differently. I’m going to love others no matter what. Triggers lose there false power over us and the peace we desire become our results, more and more…do you see the importance of this process of Sanctification yet? Sanctification: the more we grow in Christ, the more we will have the results we really want, the Abundant Life, filled with peace, that we were created for.
