The prayer from Day 40 simply titled “Run!” centers around a very crucial topic. It begins by quoting 1Co 6:18-20, where St Paul encourages us to “Flee from sexual immorality…Therefore, honor God with your body.” Humans have had a major problem with sex and sexuality since the beginning of Time, it just seems like, the less culture follows God, the more evident this problem gets. I read an article recently by Ken Ham from Answers in Genesis titled “Nothing New” where he said “It’s as if the curtain has been drawn back, and the spiritual battle that’s always been there is now allowed to run rampant in the culture.” (Answers Insider magazine April 2023 Vol. 30 Iss. 4 p3) Very well put! And the farther this world gets from God, the worse it is going to get…and so we must pray over our youth’s confusion and lack of control.
Here is a select example of the strong prayer Mr Banks encourages us to lift towards God:
“It’s all around him, Lord. On the internet, on TV, in magazines, and in the people he meets every day. Sexual immorality reaches its poison claw out to him at every turn…. Help him understand that sexual immorality threatens the health of his body and wages ‘war against’ his soul (1Peter 2:11)…. I pray that he will ‘learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable’ (1Thessalonians 4:4)…. When temptation says, ‘Come to bed with me!’ (Genesis 39:12), let him run and not look back…. I pray he will understand that lust is not love, and that love is a gift of Your creating…. Whatever mistakes he’s made, please give him grace to see that Your kindness leads him ‘toward repentance’ (Romans 2:4)…. Cleanse his temple and fill him with Your Holy Spirit (1Corinthians 6:19)…. May the price of Your body, given for him, give him every inspiration to give his own to You.” (pp82-83)
I believe there has never been a more vital time to pray this over everyone!
