So The Downfall caused each of us to be born in this “death mode” where all our choices are based on this self-centered, MMI (Me, Myself and I) mentality. Apart from God Who is Life, that’s our only choice…sure God can prompt us to “do good” now and again if it is His Will, but our motives are still usually set on what is best for “me.” We are not self-less on our own and cannot even choose righteousness without our hearts being changed. The Bad News is that we are doomed from birth…BUT GOD!!!!
As we turn our hearts to God, surrender our lives to Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to live within our dead spirit and brings Everlasting Life into us…and all this ONLY because God so loves us! Put your name in that beautiful verse from the Gospel of John chapter 3 verse 16! Make it personal, because it is personal! God loves YOU! Right where you are…and He loves us way too much to leave us in that sad state.
In Christ, we now have a choice. Where before “death mode” ruled over our thoughts, feelings and decisions, now Christ can truly be our Lord and rule over us. As we turn to Life, we can become the pure human we were always meant to be. Our motives, the heart of our decisions, will not be whatever is best for me…rather, it will be whatever will bring God the most glory, then whatever will be a true blessing to others, and lastly, whatever will help me become the child of God He originally wanted me to be, selfless, pure, and holy, just like Jesus. Then Life becomes, more and more, filled with peace and joy no matter what. God will energize us, He will give us insight where it is needed, He will increase our abilities so that we can have, enjoy and share the Abundant Life. It’s what we were created for!
