Ok. Let’s say this life changing verse together by heart:
“He must increase, but I must decrease.” Jn 3:30 ESV
So God works with what He is given because sowing and reaping is a real Biblical, and thus, Life principle. If we choose to engage in this process of Sanctification by increasing our Christ-likeness, then we will reap the benefits of decreasing our old sinful ways. Jesus becomes bigger in us and we become smaller. While we are saved from sin, we are still susceptible to its power if we are still trying to live life on our own instead of trusting God to live in and through us. Get that? No more struggling by trying, but beginning to live by trusting.
I heard it said like this: it is as if we have two wolves living within us, this New Creation in Christ and that old stinky Jezebel, our old self, from our past. Depending on which one we are feeding, it will be the stronger one within us. If we are seeking Jesus and allowing Him to change the way we think, speak and act, then this New Life will be displayed automatically. But if we turn away from God, if we feed our eyes with things we should not we watching, if we involved ourselves in activities that promote old bad habits…well, we will fall right back into that old sinful default mode and experience all those old death symptoms once again. Ahh, but God is always, and only, one decision away! Thank God for His Grace and Mercy! Go seek ways to make Jesus increase in your life today…then come leave a comment below how YOU reaped the rewards from it!
